Freehold Service Bike-Hike Info Memo/PERMISSION SLIP

Who: Girl Scout Troop 66; family and friends invited as well!

When: Saturday, December 6, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

What: Freehold Service Unit’s Annual Bike-Hike event [We will be BICYCLING the nearly 5-mile long paved, mostly level trail]. Includes refreshments.

Where: Thompson Park, 805 Route 520/Newman Springs Road, Lincroft Township. Drop-off/pick-up point: Upon entering the park, make left at first 'intersection' of park roads and use the "OLD ORCHARD" parking lot. Park website: http://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/page.asp?agency=130&Id=2539. It is about a 30 minute drive, depending on traffic.

What to bring: Bicycle, safety helmet (REQUIRED for girls), permission slip. NOTE: You’ll have to transport yourselves AND your bikes; please consider this when making your reservation. If you need travel assistance, we’ll try to help you team-up with another driver. Also, please make sure bike is FULLY FUNCTIONAL (no flat tires; brakes must work); we won’t be able to make repairs.

What to wear: WE WILL BE OUTDOORS and it is WINTER! Wear clothes appropriate to the environment and weather (coat/rain jacket, gloves, cap, sneakers or sturdy shoes; keep in mind you will be on a bicycle and it will be more windy; dress in layers). Check weather in advance of coming to know what to wear.

Cost: Fee ($5) paid by troop for troop members and includes participation “fun” patch for back of vest. NOTE: If you sign-up for this event, you are EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Family members free but must RSVP (will not receive patch).
